NATURAL IMMUNE-MODULATORS

Postby Loretta » Tue Feb 06, 2018 11:07 am

I have been researching natural immune-modulators in relation to a new complex of illnesses believed to be caused by co-infections, such as Lyme, Fibromyalgia, Me/CFS, mycoplasmas, more I believe, not to be considered inflammatory as such, nor auto-immune equally; but an entire family of co-related issues.

Does anyone have information of Black Seed Oil as treatment for co-infections. It has been used for hundreds of years around the world; it is related to Curcumin, but curcumin is cinnamon in color. Thank you Loretta

Black seed oil?
What Black seed? Nigella sativa? Or Bunium persicum?
Loretta, what sources have you already perused.
Ayurveda, the doshas, and ayurvedic herbs and how they are processed are a fascinating subject that I'm working hard to grasp.

Yes, Nativa sativa. I was wondering if it had any negative gastric side effects, and if it is to be considered acidic. I have been collecting some information on Ayurveda remedies; but need to get into it more. I'll look into it more and send you any information I find. Loretta

Nigella sativa
Heating...constipating, so needs to be paired with a person that doesn't tend toward constipation in the first place
Bitter, Acrid
Increases metabolic rate, carminative, digestive, increases appetite, diuretic, emmenogogue, anodyne, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, aromatic, expectorant......

Internal and external uses, interesting that it can be used as a poultice

(The Way of Ayuvedic Herbs by Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa and Michael Tierra......great easy to understand explanation of Ayurvedic healing)

Lady: Thank you for the book reference: I've read some articles about Ayurvedic treatments, So far I have found the remedies somewhat non-specific; but I should read more, when I can.

In an article called NATURAL SUPPORT FOR AUTOIMMUNE AND INFLAMMATORY DISEASE, a number of herbs are suggested: The ones that interested me was Sarsaparilla, recommended for lyme's (anything that can cure that is certainly of interest). Reishi Mushroom which is touted as a true modulator, and Ashwagandha, which is ayurvedic (yet the description here I don't feel adaquate), Chinese Skullcap seems very potent, of course Tumeric, very popular but must be used with caution.

In a "Life Extension Magazine, may2013, a paper on Tinospora cordifolia, Ayurvedic, is also touted as a modulator. See also, "Lactoferrin as a Natural Immune Modulator. this goes quite a bit into the science, with research presentations.

It seems to me that an expert herbalist or wholistic practitioner would be able to choose the right one for each problem.

At this point I see Black Seed Oil, is acidic; and I've read that there are many toxins in the Poke plant.

What is clear though is that either suppressing or excellerating the immune system is a poor approach. Modulation means correcting the process. Thanks for your input Lady, Loretta

Hi Whitehorse: I believe you are right that the closer our connection to the earth, plants, and a one on one relationship with its preparation. Unfortunately, I can't do that. I've read about Poke, but was more interested in the Mushrooms I read about. I have taken much ecchinacea, homeopathic, over the years for a chronic immune problem, and it was helpful for a long time, but not a cure. I am debating about usine Colloidal Silver and Cat's Claw. I have been taking her Nettle infusion from organic plants for 3 months now and it is a fabulous kidney cleanse.

Hello Niklas: I've not heard of Linden but will look; I've heard great things about Chaga, I suggested it to a friend who had a large benign but debilitating growth in his pancreas and that thing shrunk in a few months. Are you aware of anything that can heal stronger bugs than flue like, Lymes, fibromyalgia, mycoplasmas, herpes, cytomegaly? There are lots of super bugs now not at all treatable with antibiotics or antivirals. In search of more wisdom is an admirable pursuit. Loretta

Loretta, cures can usually be found by first finding the Root, we can treat the branches all we want and sometimes even find relief but as one of my teachers recently pointed out unless the Root is found and correction made illness/dis-ease will continue to crop up...this also applies to psychological traumas.
Fibromyalgia for example...first off fibromyalgia is a blanket term and each person presents different because each came to the diagnosis from their own unique path therefore the 'cure' is unique to each sufferer.......there are cancer survivors with FM, which came about because of the treatments and stress/trauma, their treatment would focus on that root and the organ systems involved, support those systems with medicinal herbs, good clean uncontaminated vitamin and mineral rich foods, gentle exercise...most FM has a secondary component like IBS, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, or depression, auto-immune, chronic viral infections, etc. These also need addressed.
Western medicine will offer antidepressants, pain killers and sleep aids, never addressing the Root.
Lyme Disease, each person will be treated differently as well because of different presentation and different possible associated conditions unique to that person.
There are great herbalists having great success curing Lyme like Stephen Buhner, Matthew Wood.
Stephen Buhner is a wiz with Herbal Antibiotics! I have learned much from him!

LAdy, You are so right about finding the root. Often a chronic illness will create other systemic problems which in themselves become a problem but can be treated. But when the root is unknown, it is hard to find a cure. One would be chasing their tails just controlling the side effects of the root condition. Very true that many chronic illnesses present with different symptoms. Western medicine are mostly toxic; most often they advertise to cure one thing, but wind up causing other bigger problems and no cure for the root. Homeopathics address root illnesses in the same manner in which you are speaking. I would love to go to an herbalist; but they are not covered by medical insurance; and for me, and so many others a big issue. Thankfully, I was a nurse, I learned so much about the deficientcy of physicians and the medications they prescribe without even knowing the side effects. Specialists know nothing about the body in its function as a whole and made little associations between various symptoms. Thank you for the names Lady, I will save them. Loretta
