Elderberry extract is my favorite--I use Kiva Rose's method to make it and it does seem very helpful. Here's the recipe:

I use the dry berries and fill the jar about 1/3, as she suggests, and it's very effective.
Also If we feel like we are getting sick, the first things I turn to is "Oil Of Oregano", also "Colloidal Silver".

This looks HEAVENLY. As well as effective. And I do have an emotional preference for brandy in extracts, though I haven't found much agreement with that.
I made dried elderberry syrup once when I was learning to use syrups, and I made a mistake in the ingredients and only used half as much honey as I should have, so it ended up going bad.... then I made wine with dried elderberries and it was yummy.
Though I DO like to use Scotch when the preparation is for magic more than it is for medicine (although most herbal things end up being both and more, don't they????). Something about that smoky taste ...
Oh the possibilities for witchy brews!
As usual, I guess one would need to research specific brands / varieties.
