First aid for rosemary plant

I have just started my annual outdoor container garden today, which is exciting! I have a rosemary plant which lives indoors in the winter, and I brought it out for the first time today, and also repotted it. It is several years old and has not done very well this winter, so I'm looking for advice t...

Re: Earbuds can create a havoc!

I read something about that quite recently in the mainstream press - can't remember where. Thanks!

Re: Spring Weed Walk

On the subject of overwintering thyme and rosemary, I just have a container garden so I bring them inside. They are the only two of the herbs I grow that have made it through the winter, even inside, on a consistent basis. Rosemary doesn't mind my cold bedroom window, but I have had success with the...

Re: A Plant At A Time Series- from the Archives

What a great story about the ants, Lady A! I'm thinking of making a bunch of herbal honeys - infusing the herb in the straight honey - rather than the way I've made syrups in the past. I have a jar of Angelica honey that is more liquid than the honey by itself, and which has already lasted sev...

Wow, Lady A! Spring greens already? We still can't see the ground for snow! All I'm harvesting is thyme and rosemary from my windowsill plants - but I love thyme and rosemary.

Re: adaptogens

It's so strange to read about "too many chanterelles"! I grew up with parents who gathered mushrooms (for food as opposed to medicinal value), and chanterelles were everybody's favourite, but there were never enough of them and the season was short. They were the only ones I ever got confi...

Re: Essential oil usage

I feel that they are being over used and used by many people for a "quick and easy fix" to a problem. I personally fine them to be more irritating than useful with a few exceptions. i do like a few drops of lavender and frankincense in my bath. I prefer infused oils. I agree - but I will ...

Re: Arnica

I use Arnica oil in combination with Epsom salts. I find it a very potent combination. Epsom doesn't dissolve in oil though. I made an epsom/arnica ointment and it was difficult to get it to blend. It needs to be used on moistened skin. Do you mean that you rub the epsom salts on your moistened ski...

Re: Splinter: will it work its way out, or should I force it?

I have had splinters that worked their way out, but on the other hand I might worry about infection if you leave it in there. And my mother always used a needle, which she held over a flame to sterilise - she said that pins might be partly composed of brass, which was not good to prick yourself with...
