We all have to try dried cleavers at least once...just as we have to try eating a wee bit fresh (LadyB is not the only one to discover the cling to your tongue yummy of fresh cleavers salad...lol )

So glad you found some relief....Yes, I think the Witch Hazel helped, it has been used for gargle and washes for many, many decades...bark and /or leaf.

I've also been looking into 'double extracts', more towards working with herbs and honey. There are some herbs that just refuse to extract into honey, so into water, oil or alcohol first...sometimes water and alcohol then into honey. Do you have access to an Asian food market/store? Here in the US we can find Burdock at Health food stores and Asian markets...Sometimes the root is labeled GOBO.

A gluten intolerance could also be a culprit.
