Re: Has anyone seen interacted with Faeries Elementals?

Can't write a long-winded reply on my phone, but yep. I'll try to link to an OLD blog I used to write on, that detailed some very fun encounters and energies with the Fae. :) https://maebius.wordpress.com/2009/02/23/faedreams/ Hope that's the right page. Would be glad to discuss this further, though...

Re: Looking For Wise Women in Maine

Welcome!! :) There's also a somewhat un-official Facebook Group, which has a very short list (only those who wished to share) of Susun Weed students/WiseFolks by region. https://www.facebook.com/groups/susunweedfriends/files/ This forum's a great resource too, if you are patient for replies. (I pers...

Re: Burdock seeds?

I personally have never used the seeds other than "crafts" (aka: sticking the burs together into a huge ball and painting it as a garden ornament somewhere I know it won't re-grow in the spring. :P ) and mainly use the roots, but I vaguely recall hearing or reading something about tincturi...

Re: Comfrey Identification

The lovely tall Purple flowering variety is GoodMedicine. :) Here's Susun's words on it, from the article linked.... http://www.susunweed.com/herbal_ezine/June08/wisewoman.htm Every time I mention comfrey, someone asks if it isn't "unsafe." When I identify with comfrey, I feel like a perse...

Re: Weed identification

There are some great resources online for identifying plants, and you could post them here perhaps as well for the other Wise Folks to help ID. :) As for Poke, I have heard soe many arguments for/against it, but Susun Weed employs Poke Tincture as a rather potent ally sometimes. http://www.susunweed...

Re: making tinctures without alcohol

Forgot to add, (to address the initial question, oops!) I've also seen Glycerides and vinegars as "tinctures" for those with alcohol insensitivies or such. However, the chemistry is different as alcohol is a solvent for particular alkaloids that may not be readily dissolved in acetic acid ...

Re: making tinctures without alcohol

I have found that adding the dropper (or drops) of tincture to a glass of juice or warm water instead of directly on the tongue, minimizes the "Whoo DRUNK" mindset. Possibly a variation on the placebo effect, since it's still "consuming the alcohols" even with the dosage is so ti...

Re: everclear vs. vodka for making tinctures

Yes, that is what I have done with good results. Sometimes, if I am unable to find a good 100-proof vodka, I mix a bit of "190+" in with the cheaper 80-proof vodka, though that winds up with two bottles... which is perfect for keeping one for 'high-octane' martinis/mixers and one for medic...
