Re: Essential oil usage

I do still use them occasionally but with the awareness that they are more drug like in their action rather than nourishing, having been broken down to only one element.

Re: A Plant At A Time Series- from the Archives

Bee, I am going to do the same thing this year. I made lots of tinctures last year and will continue to make more of them, but I love honey and its healing ability is like magic to me. I've already started buying as much local honey as I can so that I'll be ready when the plants start coming up! I l...

I have a friend that taps maple syrup. I am able to get as much as I want from her. I don't know if it has the preservation abilities of honey though

Re: Rufus's broken leg

I have heard stories of folks dribbling Comfrey tincture down into the cast. I had thought of that, but my gut says not to. He is doing so well! It is truly amazing. He is in a contained area, and away from his herd, but handling it well. He has no problem moving around and can lie down and get bac...

I love rocks of all kinds. I almost always have a few in my pocket that I pick up "along my way". thank you Kmartin for this great easy reference. It is always interesting for me to contemplate the stones that I am attracted to at any given time.

Re: Spring Weed Walk

I love rosemary as well! It doesn't over winter well here but some folks have success bringing it in. I've hardly used thyme at all, even in cooking. My son also had whooping cough when he was young. It was a direct result of the vaccine. it was the final thing that helped me choose to stop vaccinat...

Lady, do you make your syrups with sugar or honey? I'm going to work with honeys and vinegars this season. I focused on tinctures and some oils last year. I definitely need a lot more yarrow tincture!

Re: Rufus's broken leg

He is in a full cast for now so no poltices or compresses on the area but She is feeding comfrey, oatstraw and nettles. He is doing amazingly well. The ride home was hard on him but he is bright eyed, engaging with everyone who visits and beginning to put weight on it when he walks around. None of t...

Yarrow! My grandson is visiting and he has asked if we can go mushroom hunting! Maybe we will find some oysters.
